A Museum Piece

Yesterday Brittany and I got to see Bob Dylan for our first time at Grand Prairie's Quik Trip Park, which is a local minor league baseball team's home. It was a great time, even though it lasted for 6 hours and started at 530, the heat settled down after a while and we were able to enjoy. Willie Nelson started the show, feeling a bit extra welcomed in his home state. He rewarded us with a great backdrop and a much better than expected performance.

We didn't capture any waves of his, but they were the funniest part of the evening. Instead, we got a shot of him pointing at some people in the crowd. Oh Willie.

Then it was the forgettable John Mellencamp. My opinion of him was a Bruce Springsteen wannabe but with really dumb hair, a little too much botox, and some questionable singing stances. Anyway, I didn't go to see him so it didn't matter to me. The real deal was up next.

Bob showed up next. When he walked out, all I could think about was that it was actually him. He never said a word to the audience, never made a facial expression, but still he kept your attention the entire time. He's easily the most intimidating musician ever and I couldn't imagine how anyone could feel comfortable having a conversation with him. You let him do his thing, and we listen.

His intro was similar to a boxing promoter. He opened with Leopard Skin Pillbox Hat. Below is a video.

Here is another picture. It was too difficult to get anything better than this, so tough luck.

Good ole Bob.

Sooooooooooo lucky, you two! I'm absolutely thrilled that you got to enjoy Willie and Bob! Two greats, without a doubt in my mind, at least!
Thanks for the review and the movie! You know me - I'd have been there with my party shoes on - def!
Mellencamp on that tour, to me, was sooo strange - but like you said, you weren't there to see him anyway!
Woot!
Love yas!

awesome! nice video to say the least....glad ya'll got to see those folks....mainly dylan of course...the two times i've seen dylan have each been totally diff variations of songs, which is incredible how he is still developing those old songs....that bass player has been touring with dylan for a while and is awesome bass player...i think it's been at least since 'love and theft' came out...maybe a few years prior.

long live bob.

Just read that the next concert in the series has been cancelled due to extreme heat and, will not be rescheduled . Was to be in Glendale AZ. So, I'm real glad it wasn't extreme heat for you all, even though it was pretty darn hot! Like I said - sooooo lucky, you two! :D
