I'm a Hangman

Last night Brittany and I went to Hangman's House of Horrors in Fort Worth.

Recently we saw it on the Travel Channel as on of the best haunted houses in the country, so I surprised Brittany by telling her that's where we were headed. She loved the idea, so we went before it was even dark to wait in line in anticipation.

Meanwhile, this guy...

kept scaring Brittany in line. Most of the time I would be talking to her, he would sneak up, and I would play the part and wait for her to turn her head and see him creeping around. That was hangman by the way.

Also in attendance was the greatest Halloween man of all time. The Fredster.

The way in was really exciting. With all these chainsaw guys running around scaring everyone and the real Leatherface over in the corner signing autographs (I think he must be light in the pockets nowadays or something), the mood was set perfectly for scaring people...except for the random karaoke on the side. Anyway, in we went!

The best parts were what I call the "Joker disco" section, and Brittany calls a rave, with all these crazy neon colored nightmare guys jumping around freaking everyone out. I also liked the guy eating someone's intestines like spaghetti and licking it all up in your face. The worst parts were the claustrophobic mazes through white sheets and plastic tubes, as well as the classic spinning tunnel that makes me want to puke. Basically I just closed my eyes and held on to Brittany the whole time we were in there. She had plenty of screams and scares and I had plenty of laughs at her. It was so much fun.

In other news, we watched Brian's Song the other night.

I loved it like I always have, and Brittany "enjoyed" it. She would have liked it more if it was longer and had a more in depth story, as opposed to a straightforward portrayal of Brian and Gale's relationship. At least she finally watched it though, and it sparked a lengthy discussion with Keith about some of the greatest sports movies in history. Now she needs to watch Rocky.

Also I have some issues to discuss. So far I have gotten to watch the Ravens twice on television, and what do you know, they lost both times. I have gotten to also witness Virginia Tech's only two losses of the season...how convenient? Perhaps my luck will change this weekend as they play Florida State and desperately need a win. It's hard to handle mediocrity out of your sports teams! At least I know the Orioles stink. And the Wizards are always "overachieving" because Gilbert is always hurt. Therefore, I never get to experience the full potential of my favorite teams!

Except for those times that the Ravens won the super bowl, and the Terrapins won the National Championship. What a time that was.

Lastly, I would like to mention our fantasy football players' troubles as of late.

Santonio Holmes - caught with marijuana this week

Marvin Harrison - had a "shooting" take place at his restaurant over the summer, and apparently he was a little closer to the incident than just owning the restaurant.

Larry Johnson - being charged with assaulting a woman for spitting a drink in her face

Kellen Winslow - hates his team for getting a staph infection, and his team hates him. Sounds like some great playing time!

Alright that is enough rambling about things no one cares about. Sorry for the blurry photos but I hope they got the job done! See you next time.

you asked for itttt, you got ittttt

So sorry for the delay. The past few weeks have been filled with loved ones!

We visited my oldest friend a few weeks ago, and did nothing but stuff ourselves with delicious food at Cheesecake Factory. We also cooked a very belated birthday dinner which took several hours even though it was extremely simple. Amy is one of those friends who reverts me to the age of 10 when we hang out. We ended up staying up late at night after Will fell asleep, and giggled for hours about ridiculous things including some crazy ass commercial starring a dog with T-rex arms.

Don't zoom in on this picture. I screwed up with the red eye remover and deleted the original. I have three pupils :(

Mom and Dave visited last weekend! We went to the State Fair and had to take a picture with this scarecrow man.

And in front of Big Tex! Excuse the blurriness of the group pic. The person who took it was too busy getting ready for a parade.

The State Fair of Texas is famous for fried food. Now, I'm not sure if I've ever liked a corn dog before, but the "corny dogs" at Fletcher's are a MUSSSSTTTT.

The fried bacon was too much for me, but somehow it won the first prize for being the best fried food there.

We didn't do much but walk around and eat. I think next year I'll win some giant stuffed animals and then not know what to do with them.

The next day we all went to see the King Tut exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art. They probably should have disclaimed that King Tut was NOT ACTUALLY THERE before we spent $30 a ticket to go see a digital projection of his mummy. A lot of the artifacts from his tomb and other neat Egyptian stuff was there, but it was such a let down to not even get to see this mask.

I mean, really??

So afterward we moseyed out to Fort Worth and did some sight-seeing.

And saw a cattle drive!!

And Billy Bob's! For about 10 minutes. Stupid Darius Rucker (HOOTIE!) was playing there so they had to shut it down to "prepare."

Next visitor, be forewarned: we want to go back there.

Anyway, it was great to see family and we all had a good time. We'll see the rest of you soon, too!

Today we visited a pumpkin patch in Flower Mound. It was CHAOS. Kids having meltdowns, kettle corn smells wafting, a giant pumpkin bounce house, and horses secretly eating entire misfit pumpkins in the back. It was awesome, and I can't wait to take our future little ones to stuff like that. PLUS we got a 10% off coupon for our Christmas tree if we buy it from their farm.

Neat little rows.

Cutest train ever!

Please excuse my creepy face!

We have a winner.

Well, that's all I've got right now. COMMENT.

PS - Is anyone else excited to see Sarah Palin on SNL tonight?? Hahah

i was your favorite

Will's post made me want to post another Neko Case song. Here's a video of her playing one of my favorites... "Favorite"

Haha, I'm so funny!

You do what you must do, and you do it well

A much overdue, complete update has arrived. It will be subdivided into certain topics, so feel free to skip what is of no interest.

David Petway

On Saturday, David Petway came to town with his dad and cousin to see the Redskins vs. Cowboys. It was good to see someone from home, and he is always a source of great entertainment. We went to Chuy's and the waitress had a real crush on him. Obviously she got to him by convincing him to drink a martini. Not too manly if you ask me. Anyway, I needed a pic of him for my phone so I took this...

Neko Case

After David, Brittany and I saw Neko Case at the Granada Theater. Apparently, no one is used to actually seeing a show or caring to get to the front to see it. Unexpectedly, we walked in being about 100th in line or so, but we were easily able to walk straight to the front with no confrontation. It was really odd but we took advantage of the lack of enthusiasm.

First up was Giant Sand. They were from Tuscon, AZ and were surprisingly good, especially for an opener. I highly suggest Young Linda and Poppy John to check them out, as you may end up liking them. The singer was a great guitarist and his band was entirely from Denmark, including the silly looking guitar player hiding in the back (B insists it's Beethoven's long lost bro).

As noted by the transition picture, Neko was up next. She was fantastic, especially after they finally got the volume right on her microphone. We were so lucky to hear her do her Bob Dylan cover (see video). I'm not sure what the guy in front of us is doing in the video, either he is sensitive to loud music or he's on a phone. Either way, he's acting weird. It was so great to go to a good show, the first since Radiohead. I definitely suggest seeing Neko anytime you can, as it is hard to not like her voice.

Baltimore Ravens

Ahh Ray Ray and the Ravens. They tried so hard and still lost to the Steelers. I can't decide if I should be really upset about the Monday Night Football attempt or if I should be confident that they can at least hang with anyone in the NFL. Either way, Joe Flacco has a lot of potential. After only three starts, you can't ask for too much more. Ray looks like a youngster and still the best linebacker in the league. If Ed Reed, Chris McAlister, and Willis McGahee live up to their standards, they can be real good. Unfortunately, they often have mental lapses. And what is the deal with Todd Heap, he may have one catch all year? They really need him to come through. It's a long season, but they have the Titans and the Colts the next two weeks, so they don't really have time to fool around. Go Ravens!

MLB Playoffs

I am loyal to the Orioles, and therefore I will not be jumping up and down for anyone this October. However, I am also loyal to Young Keith and he is a true fan of the Cubs. I would love to see them win, as I am sick and tired of the Red Sox being the only one's who have overcome curses and risen to the elite of baseball. The Cubs are less arrogant, more exciting, and not dominating "rivals" of the Orioles. Therefore, I am rooting for the Cubbies.

From the AL, I would like to see the Rays make it to the World Series. What a great story that would be, especially in the face of the Yankees and Red Sox.

October

October has come, and so has some awesome weather. It is easily one of my top three months of the year. Nothing beats Halloween and fall decorations, and the smells of the season can put a smile on anyone's face. Baseball, football, anticipation of basketball...What a great time! Not to mention The Office is back, and our new show Heroes. So many options throughout the week, Netflix is hard to keep up with!

This Weekend

This weekend we are going to visit Amy in College Station, aka home of Texas A&M. I know we are going to cook for her, because she's working late on Friday. Besides that, I count on some relaxation and light hearted conversation. We will take some pictures for all to see.

Sorry for such a long update. We get so behind and then we are left with a huge list of events that have happened. Like today, Brittany's windshield was cracked by a flying rock. But that's another story for another day. Go Hokies!

Treat for all...This is my dream dog, and my best friend of all time. He lives right down the road a little bit and I stop and give him a good pet every time we pass him. Ahhh, we are meant for a bulldog.
